For all the rudy poots out there that don’t recognize what 40 has done for not only the Yay, but rap music in general, he pieced together a track on the Ball Street Journal… fittingly, it’s entitled “The Ambassador.”

E-40 In The Booth With Whoo Kid

It ain’t West Coast Wednesdays yet, but this is definitely an exclusive… 40 H2O in the booth with DJ Whoo Kid and some other dude. They won’t shut the fuck up and let a legend spill, but he does manage to speak on The Ball Street Journal, 40 Water and Landy Cognac, among other things. Oh, and the spit at the end is official like a referee whistle.

Bay-T-L Livin’ | A West Coast Set With Southern Swag

The “Bay-TL” is more than a party. It’s a way of life. It’s Too Short, E-40, Keyshia Cole, Willie Joe and more… It’s that West Coast swag with a southern twist – good game good vibes and good music. It’s the proclamation Short made on “Just Another Day,” 40’s merge with BME and eventual breakthru’s such as “Snap Yo Fingers” and “You and Dat Booty.” It’s Keyshia Cole’s arrival, one that spawned a hit reality series on BET and Willie Joe’s rise from unknown underground rapper to showcase phenom and eventual Sho’Nuff Records signee.

Bay-TL Livin’ is the “schoolhouse.” It’s those college students that made their way across the country to see what the hype was all about. It’s Clark Atlanta University, Spelman, Morris Brown, Morehouse, GA State, GA Tech, etc. It’s the novelty of being at home for a night when home is literally thousands of miles across the country.

So if you’re from the Bay and you consider yourself a “Bayboy” or a “Go Girl” (sorry CiCi, but that’s our shit), you would want to be in the building. If you fuck with the Bay, you would want to be in the building. If you’re curious… well, you know what it is.

SLAP | E-40 | “Sprinkle Me”

Too Short’s induction into the VH1 Hip Hop Honors family this past week is a pretty good indication that E-40 will follow in a year or two. No matter how much game they stole and how often they hated, rappers and critics alike all got a little bit of 40 Water in them along the way – whether they wanna admit it or not. This song, is ONE reason why. 

As he puts the finishing touches on his 11th album, The Ball Street Journal, we thought it fitting to take it back to the early 90s – the Bay Area’s glory days – to truly appreciate the catalogue this brutha has assembled.
